Blogging is one of the most popular way to increase your authority in a certain topic or industry. However, a lot of small business owners are not taking advantage of the benefits in blogging. But how do you start blogging? How do you keep up with the changing trends and keep your website blog fresh and inspiring?
While you want to maximize your readership, you would want to be specific on your blog post. Choose a specific topic for your article that falls within a category. For example, if you are blogging about a website design. Create a blog post from the “website design” general topic. Narrow down the topic to something like “Benefits of Having a Business Website“.
Then create a blog post title that is catchy and will make a nice headline when shared across social media networks. Imagine that you are someone who is just browsing the internet and you see your blog post among thousands of others. You should make sure your blog headline sticks out from the rest.
If you’re starting your own blog, you probably won’t have a multitude of readers and comments right away. You’ll have to search out people and show them you exist. Some ways to do this are with social networking, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or by commenting to other website blogs. Use these sites to communicate with real people, not just post your blog links.
Write your blog in a more personal tone with easier to read and straightforward sentences. Whether your blog is inspiring, instructional or motivating, it should be free from other “jargons” that stray away from your blog topic. You want your reader to focus on your words and the point you are trying to make.
If you plan to blog all the time, then invest in a domain name. It is very inexpensive and will make your blog look more professional. Using your business’ name or something related to it will make it easier for viewers to remember it.
Keep your blog background colors and design at minimal or as much as possible white background. Consider adding pictures or music to your blog. Stimulating their senses will create a fuller experience, and increase the pleasure of your visitors. Choose pictures and sounds that are relevant to the content of your blog. Before you choose anything, be certain that you are not in violation of any copyright laws.
